Visiting Siem Reap

This weekend Jennie, some other friends, and I are going to Siem Reap for a wedding. While we are there we will have an awesome opportunity to visit Angkor Wat and some other temples in Siem Reap.

Angkor Wat. It is beautiful ancient Khmer architecture.

Aerial view of Anchor Wat and the surrounding moat.

Angkor Wat is a huge part of Cambodia's proud history. It is featured on their national flag.

This is one of the temples that has been overrun by the surrounding jungle.

These are the Bayon faces. We are very excited to visit this temple.

The famous temples of Siem Reap are a valued part of Cambodian history and heritage. It will be our last adventure in Cambodia.

in my defense.

and I would just like to say one thing. I have been mercilessly teased about the pigeon video...in my defense, what you all didn't see is the tons of birds that were circling my feet and were all around...it was much scarier than it looked. I'm not that big of a wuss...

you know you would have freaked out too.

a day in the life.

Bangkok, Thailand

Here are some pictures that Jennie and I took while we were in Bangkok around town:

On our boat taxi...Jennie looking out at the city with her strawberry smoothie in hand...

Getting on the Sky Train...

On the Sky Train...

Jennie and I with Pada one of the Wesleyan missionaries who took care of us in Bangkok...

At the King's Palace...

Now you see why people are intimidated by me when they first meet me...that guardian and I have a lot in common...

Jennie didn't make as good of friends with the guardians...

We met some pigeons...

This is what it took to get that picture...

One of the things we were able to do while we were in Bangkok was prayerwalk one of the main red-light districts every night. That red-light district is called Phat Phong. This is a picture of Phat Phong during the day:

This is Phat Phong at night and me in my I am Not For Sale t-shirt:

It’s quite a difference. I was able to walk it and record a little bit of it after a meeting with an organization called Rahab that has its office and works in the district. It looks like I have a lisp...not really...I don't know what happened...
